Since graduating from Wolverhampton University with a First Class Honours degree in 2000, Angela Farquharson’s work has been appreciated and featured around the world. From international private collections to prestigious exhibitions, her figurative works have achieved much recognition and inclusion in national exhibitions at the likes of the Cork Street Gallery and Mall Gallery, London. She has also been a frequent exhibitor at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and other outdoor sculpture showcases.

‘Having originally studied fashion design, it was during my time on the degree course that my direction changed: becoming more figurative in my approach, influenced by the female form and drawing inspiration from the fashion world. I am inspired by the way fabric and drapery creates new shapes, how soft folds of silk lie on the body and fashion’s constant evolution to match the body’s movement.’ – Angela Farquharson

Angela Farquharson’s work has continued to evolve more figuratively, ultimately revolving around the depiction of the female form’s sensuality and inherent beauty. She strives to preserve the values of classical figurative sculpture, while also appreciating modern craft developments.

Originally specialised in porcelain, her work has increased in scale to include life size ceramic and bronze pieces. Each and every ceramic sculpture is carefully produced from start to finish at Angela Farquharson’s studio, where she uses the natural qualities of the unglazed porcelain to enhance the sensuality of the porcelain figures. For larger sculptures, she has developed her own unique high fired stoneware finish. Smooth lines are another integral element of her works, being an essential throughout the production process, from sculpting to the final finishing of each piece in order to maintain a high quality finish.
